If what you want to remove from wrought iron is not rust flakes but only rust stains, you need to do only a little work. Just dip a very fine steel-wool pad into kerosene, and brush out the rust stains. Remember to wear safety glasses and rubber gloves when working with kerosene and take care not to use kerosene near sources of fire. Its better if you do it in the open.
